5-day long Faculty Development Program on Advance Pedagogical Techniques and Research Skills organiz
May 31, 2024 Maharaja Agrasen International College and IQAC organized a 5-day Faculty Development Program on “Advance Pedagogical Techniques and Research Skills” from 27th – 31st May 2024. The FDP was successfully organized under the guidance of Chief Patron Chairman of the college Shri Rajesh Agarwal and Ex-Chairman Shri Ramesh Agarwal, Cheif Convener Dr. M.S. Mishra. Program Convener was Dr. Ila Dixit, HOD Department of Management.
The aim of the Faculty Development Program was to introduce the faculties to various pedagogies and then by incorporating essential pedagogical knowledge, skills, dispositions and commitments that enable teachers to practice at high level. They were introduced to proven active learning techniques that can be applied easily in a higher education context, helping students to develop their knowledge and enthusiasm for learning. They will practice using these techniques in their lessons plans, notes preparation, execution plans and class engagements. Faculty members also explored some key topics in depth, learning about the misconceptions students may hold and how they can be tackled in the classroom. Finally, teachers got the opportunity to try some practical experiments which can be adapted to be used in any settings.
The speakers for the 5-day long program were eminent personalities from multiple disciplines where the sessions on all the days began by saraswati pooja and floral welcome of the keynote speakers. On the first day Dr. Monika Sethi Vice Chancellor, K.K Modi University, Durg who exchanged her views on Academic Advising and Mentoring, for the second day the energetic speaker Dr. J.P. Patra Associate Professor CSVTU, Bhilai who engaged the faculties on the topic of Technology Integration in Education where he also involved everyone in activity concerning student centric approach and initiated brainstorming discussions. The third day speaker Dr. Amit Agrawal, Assistant Professor, Management IIIT ,Naya Raipur who talked on the topic of Research Skills where he also elaborated the conversion of research from qualitative to quantitative approach. Dr. K.G. Srinivasa Professor, Dean (R&I), & HOD DSAI IIIT, Naya Raipurwas the speaker for the session on fourth day enlightened the participants with Teaching Strategies for Student Engagement & Pedagogical Innnovationwhere he also made faculties aware of various assessment softwares like mentimeter, socratives and gave live examples of those and also talked about unconventional ways of class engagement. The speaker for the closing session of FDP was Dr. Anuj Shukla, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT,Raipurwho took the session on the topic Research Writing Skills where he talked about basics of Research writing, its components, language, components of literature review and varied other key aspects related to Research Paper and Research Writing. The program has been designed to enable the faculties to understand and practice “Learner Centric Teaching Strategies” as well as to integrate ICT tools in teaching. It Also helped to recognize and imbibe the proficiencies and qualities of good teacher as well as to expose educators to diverse educational systems and cultural perspectives, enriching their understanding of global research practices and broadening their horizons.
The whole session was intriguing and helped the faculties to learn about new technologies and techniques of teaching learning pedagogy as well as useful research skills. The Coordinators for the FDP were Mr. Mallikarjun Rao, Mr. Hassan Raza and Ms Anjali Swarnkar.
