Educational Tour to Pondicherry by the Interior Design students of MAIC
Mar 02, 2024 Maharaja Agrasen International College, Raipur organized educational tour to Pondicherry for its students of Interior Design Department few days ago. 26 Students from the department actively participated in the tour accompanied by 2 faculty members. The students visited various scenic destinations and learned a lot about the art, architecture and indigenous people as well as living traditions Pondicherry and its environs. The educational tour was successfully organized under the guidance of college chairman Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Principal Dr. M. S. Mishra, Administrator Ms. Shivangi Mishra and HOD Interior Design Department Ar. Preeti Sahu who collectively congratulated students on their safe return as well as motivated students to opt more for such educational and adventurous trips in upcoming time.
They visited the various architecturally marvelous in Pondicherry including the famous Tamil Town, French Town understood their architectural characters along with the temples who were beautiful examples of Dravidian Architecture, Churches and Cathedrals showcasing the French culture of the city. The students also visited and explored the serene architecture, interiors of Aurbindo Ashram followed by the visit to Auroville which is an experimental township nearby Pondicherry. Students also visited Matrimandir which is known for its marvelous construction which is an edifice of spiritual significance for practitioners of integral yoga, in the centre of Auroville. Towards the end of the tour students visited Mahabalipuram known for its temples and monuments built by the Pallava dynasty in the 7th and 8th centuries. They also visited Dakshinachitra Heritage Museum which is a living-history museum in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, dedicated to South Indian heritage and culture. Students also explored the beachfront at Pondicherry.
The whole trip helped students to understand various phases of architecture and interiors that included Dravidian Temples, Churches, settlements of Tamil and French Towns as well as also understood the South Indian Heritage and culture through the Heritage museum. The whole tour was fulfilled with explorations, learning and adventures along with scenic and cultural attractions of Pondicherry.
The students were accompanied by two faculty members Abhijeet Chakravarty and ID Jaishree Dewangan.
