May 06, 2023 Maharaja Agrasen International College in Samta Colony Raipur organized International Seminar on “The Six Paramitas to Succeed” on May 6, 2023 in its campus premises. It was organized in association with K.K. Modi University, Bhilai. The keynote speakers for the session were Dr. Christie Chang, A Global Educator, Interfaith Activist and Peace Singer and Dr. Frank Tein, An Ancient Chinese Wisdom Researcher. The Registrar of K.K. Modi University Dr. D.N. Singh was also present for the session. The session commenced with floral welcome of the dignitaries followed by a prayer guided by the speakers. In the next part of the session Dr. Christie Chang introduced herself and her work and then elaborated the concept of “The Six Paramitas to Succeed” for picking up any skill in life which is a concept based on Buddhas Teachings. As she quoted that the word “Paramita” means perfection of wisdom and The Six Paramitas include Generosity (Dana) that elaborates the practice of giving, Discipline (Shila) which is indicative of the morality, Tolerance, Patience (Shanti) that is to be practiced heartfully, Energy (Virya) which mentions the energy to make joyful efforts, Concentration (Dhyana) that comprises of two stages namely Samadhi and Vipasana respectively that cohesively forms the key to mindfulness and the sixth Paramita Wisdom (Prajana) which constitutes the awareness and acceptance of differences and perceptions. All these when practiced altogether will lead to success desired along with the mindfulness of body, mind and soul. She also highlighted the fact that how United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals are also based on these paramitas at various different levels. The session was very enlightening and informative at the same time which encouraged the listeners to practice these paramitas in order to obtain mindfulness. Principal Dr M.S. Mishra also elaborated that how these Buddha’s teachings of Paramitas coincide with the values as well as teachings in Hinduism and Shrimad Bhagvad Gita which is in turn enormously indicative of interfaith cohesiveness that is needed to be practiced in today’s scenario. The session concluded by felicitation of the guests with memento on the behalf of the college as a token of gratitude and respect for the dignitaries followed by vote of thanks. The seminar was successfully organized under the guidance of college chairman Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Principal Dr. M. S. Mishra, administrator Mr. Siddharth Sabharwal.
