Sep 16, 2023 International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer (informally and simply called Ozone Day) is celebrated on September 16 designed by the United Nations General Assembly.
This year, we celebrate 36 years of global ozone layer protection. Life on Earth would not be possible without sunlight. This stratospheric layer shields Earth from most of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation. The hole – caused by ozone-depleting gases (ODSs) used in aerosols and cooling, such as refrigerators and air-conditioners – was threatening to increase cases of skin cancer, cataracts, damage plants, crops, and ecosystems.
Department of Computer Science has celebrate this day by engaging students of B.Sc I, II, III with Quiz competition. This Competition involved the questions related to ozone layer, nature & general awareness.
The Quiz competition had an aim to enable students to think out of the box, beyond the syllabus knowledge. The motive is to celebrate ozone day, also increase the curiosity towards the nature and spread awareness about the ozone layer.
