3D modeling workshop through Software for Interior Design Students at MAIC

Apr 25, 2024
MAIC has planned a 10-day thorough and hands-on 3D modeling program for Semester 4 Interior Design students, which began on April 18, 2024. Ar. Virendra Chhatria, an architect and NIT Raipur alumni, will lead the workshop. He has extensive expertise with different 3D modeling and visualization applications. The workshop is successfully organized under the guidance of the college's Chairman, Shri. Rajesh Agarwal, Principal Dr. M S Mishra, and administrator Ms. Shivangi Mishra. BVOC ID's curriculum includes 3D modeling and the usage of various tools, and 3D modeling software plays an important role in modern interior design, providing designers with a strong tool for visualizing and communicating their ideas efficiently. It is a must-have tool in modern interior design, allowing designers to create immersive simulations, maximize space utilization, experiment with materials and lighting, and work successfully with customers and colleagues. During the first five days of the program, the mentor led the students in visualizing and creating their fourth semester interior design of the workplace using Google SketchUp 3D software. Individually, the students conceived the concepts for their particular projects, and the mentor guided the 3D modeling process. The program also helped students grasp the various design components and how they may be combined to create new shapes. During the final five days of the program, students were taught how to render their 3D software models using rendering extensions such as V-Ray and Lumen to give the models a more realistic appearance, which would assist students improve their visualization of the area intended. The session has proven to be extremely beneficial to the students, and their developed work on 3D software will be shown and assessed in the following semester evaluations. The Faculty in charge of the workshop is Ar. Neha Agase and ID Jaishree Dewangan.
